Another year, another glorious month of NaNoWriMo bliss. Alright, it might not have seemed blissful at times, but you love it, I know you do, and you'd do it again and again and again. Now, I wanna hear how you did.

So, did you win, did you come up short... and if you didn't win, ARE YOU STILL WRITING? You had better be. Else I will pelt you with something much harder than tomatoes. Really, all of us should continue to write, regardless.

Personally, it was my second year of NaNoWriMo and my first win. I came sidling in at 51K.

How about you?
I role play here, here, here and here. I write here and of course, right here at The Rookery.

I made it this year, my second win (and consecutive, no less!).

It was a bad choice to write fantasy. I enjoy fantasy, but my heart wasn't in it... I couldn't stick with a high fantasy theme, and eventually caved into urban crossover. I hate what I wrote, in its current form; a sortof amused, head-shaking hatred. I'm not going to look at it for a long time but, of course, I'm not going to discard it. With the large set of various, loosely-linked ideas that I chucked into this piece in order to keep myself marginally interested and motivated, I may eventually card it all out into a longer series of short novellas. A set of projects of a medium commitment could be a fun thing to work with later, and I like a lot of the concepts and characters that I played with over the course of the month.

So, despite hating what I wrote overall, I do consider the month a huge success. Additionally, connecting with the NaNoWriMo crew in my area connected me to some really good people who I'm spending a lot of time with on an ongoing basis, which was the other thing I was really looking forward to getting out of the event.

Oh, and I'm officially ML for my region for next year!

I loved the concept of my NaNo, and I still do, but I hated the execution. There is very little of the 5.5k (Yes, that's right. 5500 is all I did...) that I would even consider worthwhile work. The whole NaNoWriMo writing style was completely foreign to me, so I was having a really hard time trying to adapt and utilize it. Which ultimately was very discouraging.

BUT! It was a wonderful experience. I learned a lot about how to go about doing it better next year, I met great new peoples, and had a blast with them!

I kicked Nano ass. Heh. Finished with 58k and loved almost every minute of it. I used the time to finish my Traveler's Trade book Sanctuary, and send them on their next horrific adventure. Woot. I love making my characters suffer. I also met a lot of fantastic people, and I'm happy that several of them are hanging with the WriteClub crew each Monday still. Very awesome.
I can't wait for next November. I thought, "Man, why can't this happen more than once a year?" Then I realized that there's no way I could sustain that kind of momentum more than once a year. LOL
Gave the first novel to my Mom for Christmas <3

I ruled the scene locally. Literally kicked everyones ass to the curb. Which was frighteningly odd cause I know I'm not even close to the fastest writer in my crew. I think there was something odd going on, maybe Karma was purposefully slowing everyone else down or something.

I will say though that after I hit 50k I pretty much stopped writing. I think this is due to the fact that 50k was in fact the goal and upon reaching it my brain was all, "Woooo time for a nap."

That being said my story is not complete and I do write on it occasionally, just not constantly as I probably should. At the moment though my mind is warping around the concept that Crows and I have put in motion for our collaborative project for the month of January. And now I'm rocking out to a remix of Hello Seattle by Owl City. \m/

Next year I plan to write 100k in Nanowrimo. I also plan to kick all your asses again. Bring it on! ^_^
