Submission Guidelines
If you are interested in becoming a member of Halflit.net, you must submit an application to be considered by the webmistress and the existing membership. All submissions should be sent in the body of an email to forgettingwalk/at/gmail.com.
If you would like more information before you submit an application, or during the process of application review (please allow a week or so), there is a rotating guest login for the Members Area of the site where you will be able to read and get a feel for the pace of the community. The guest login account does not have posting access to the Members Area.
Submission Guidelines:
- Your name and age. As stated in the 'About' page, you must be 18 years or older.
- Your preferred username and password (I need both to give you site access).
- URL of an existing website (if you have one; you don't have to already have one), or journal if you feel as though it would give us an opportunity to scan over more of your work, or get to know you better.
- Samples of your work. 3-5 pieces, or excerpts of pieces around a page at the longest. If the samples you're sending are shorter, send more. Once again, they must be original work. Fiction, nonfiction, and all varieties of poetry are welcome.
- A brief paragraph or two concerning your interest, history, and future in writing. You might consider such questions as, what kind of education do you have or want concerning the written word? Are you publishing, or actively seeking publication? What kind of material most speaks to you to write and read? What are some of the 'big goals' you're pursuing, such as finishing a novel or writing for a newspaper? Do you participate in writing activities regularly or periodically (such as NaNoWriMo, or writing conventions). You don't have to answer all these questions, or even stick to them; they're just some ideas. Whatever best describes your relationship to your process, and the written word in general, is what we'd like to hear.
- A brief paragraph or two about yourself in general. Again, we'd like to get to know you a little. So tell us.
- Lastly, describe how you heard about Halflit.net and what piqued your interest.
Thank you for your interest in our community. I look forward to meeting you.
